Here are some things you may be wondering about an engagement session…
Is it important to have an engagement session?
You bet. Getting together and committing your love and dedication is a major chapter in your life story that deserves to be captured. The images that we make will be used in ways that you may not even realize initially… Facebook for old friends, extended family, announcements, invitations, guest sign-in album and most importantly, for the two of you.
Where should we have our engagement session?
A great place to start is some place that is significant in meaning to the two of you and your relationship together. If you’re drawing a blank or the genesis of your relationship is across the country, I am more than happy to throw out a number of conveniently located places that we can make beauty at.
What happens on an engagement session?
We head to a place with some visual interest or personal significance. I scope out the good light and then you and your soul mate get to be who you are. Be you, be in love and the awesome will happen. There is no saying of cheese.
How long will our engagement session be?
We stop when you + your love stop bringing the fire. That doesn’t answer your question? Fine. Sessions usually last between an hour or two. It kind of depends on what we’re going for – Just one good image for a save the date card? That takes 5 minutes. Are we shooting to fill up a Fine Art Album for your coffee table or to be used as a guest sign-in album? That’s a story and good stories take time.
How should we dress?
Wear the clothes that you guys feel your personal best in. Words that should inform your clothing choices could be: Comfy, cool, sexy, chic, hot, and fun. 4″ heels photograph quite well.
We hear props are all the rage. What do you think?
Vintage cameras, phonograph players, picnic baskets, mustaches, balloons and the like have definitely made their rounds on the bridal blogs and we’ve been a fan of many of those images and photographers, but we’d like to recommend not using props for props sake. If you and your fiance are connected to an idea or a certain prop, by all means, let’s incorporate it and make something awesome out of it.
